Anne Weston Walker, MA, MAT, DT, CALT

Anne Weston Walker holds a Bachelor of Arts in English degree from Converse College and a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Spring Hill College. She is a National Board Professional Certified Teacher with twenty-three years of classroom experience and has five years of experience as an Alabama Reading Initiative reading coach. While in Alabama, Anne found the dyslexic student to be underserved in the public school system, so she initiated, implemented, and facilitated the Texas Scottish Rite Dyslexia Training Program, which obtained impressive results in improving the reading skills of dyslexic students. Her passion led her to Mississippi College, where she obtained a second Masters of Education degree with a specialization in Dyslexia Therapy. She then went on to obtain a National Certification by the Academic Language Therapy Association, one of the highest levels of certification in the field of dyslexia. Anne was also one of the first Dyslexia Therapists to be certified by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). Anne recently retired from teaching in the public school system and is enjoying working one-on-one with students specializing in Dyslexia Therapy and is a valuable team member at Breakwater Associates. Anne was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the International Dyslexia AssociationSouth Carolina Branch, where she will be able to share her expertise in dyslexia to benefit citizens across South Carolina.
