Tara Wooten received her Bachelor of Science from the College of Charleston and her Master of Arts in Psychology: Clinical Counseling at the Citadel Graduate College. Through her professional experience in the mental health community, Tara has developed a focus on assessing and treating children and adolescents while providing support to their families.
Passionate about creating sustainable change in her clients’ lives, Tara employs a systems approach to assessment and treatment. She has seen firsthand the benefits of participating in community multidisciplinary team meetings, and she believes that collaboration with a client’s support network – including family members, peers, and school professionals – helps to create an environment in which positive change is possible. Tara also strongly believes in identifying and drawing on a client’s strengths in treatment.
Tara predominately employs a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach in addressing client issues, and has experience in implementing evidence-based techniques and treatment. In addition to CBT techniques, Tara also utilizes behavioral management training, stress management training, cognitive coping, exposure therapy, and mindfulness techniques. Tara has experience in treating children and adolescents facing a variety of issues, including anger management, depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
